Susannah Stewart, soprano, has performed the roles of Euridice (Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle), Aveline Mortimer (Puts’ Elizabeth Cree, Eastman Opera Theatre), The Lady with the Cake Box (Argent’s Postcard from Morocco, Eastman Opera Theatre), Alcina (Handel’s Alcina, UNC Opera), Dido (Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, UNC Opera), and Zerlina (Mozart’s Don Giovanni, International Young Artists’ Project).
Cantata and oratorio credits include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (Williamsport Symphony Orchestra), Fauré’s Requiem and Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer (Bucknell University Choir), Mariana Martines’ Il primo amore and Handel’s Crudel tiranno amor (Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle), Handel’s Utrecht te Deum (Eastman Rochester Chorus), among others. In 2020, Susannah was asked by Eastman’s Dean Marie Rolf to perform in her “Debussy Premieres” lecture recital, presented in Hatch Hall at Eastman, and at the J.P. Morgan Library in New York City, alongside Anthony Dean Griffey, tenor, and Randall Scarlata, baritone. This production included cantatas Daniel and Hymnis, and soprano piece Séguidille.
Susannah teaches at Bucknell University and often is asked to be a masterclass clinician. She will be teaching voice at the Spoleto Study Abroad program in the Summer of 2024.
